Event Description

BOGI is 40 years old and you’re invited to the celebrations!

At the commencement of the meeting, we will be planting a tree to commemorate this special occasion. We invite any members from the early years of BOGI to share some of their memories of those early years with us on the night and if you are unable to attend please mail or email them to us for presentation on the night.

Our October speaker for the night will be Richard Zabel who will share his knowledge of native bees with us. Richard started keeping native bees over 20 years ago. His interest started after reading an article in his local paper “The Gatton Star” on 22nd of December 1987 by a young entomology student by the name of Tim Heard. He contacted Tim Heard for further information and as they say the rest is history. Richard will also bring along 4 hives and books for sale!

And finally at the end of the meeting we will cut a special cake to suit the occasion. If you would like to contribute in some way please contact any member of the committee whose details are inside the front cover of each newsletter.
