Source Community Wholefoods will be hosting a Share and Swap Fest on Saturday 24th August. Bring along your swappables for exchange, such as seeds, seedlings, jams, chutneys, vegetables, beers, ferments, cakes, biscuits. There will also be a program of short skillshare workshops such as sourdough bread baking, making saurkraut, homemade yoghurt, composting and permaculture. (We’ll release a time table closer to the date). This will be followed by woodfired pizzas and informal music making around the pizza oven.
+ AN ORGANIC FOOD CO-OPERATIVE: providing affordable organic, local, minimally packaged & fair trade goods. The co-op lives in a beautiful straw and earth bale building located on French St. on the campus of the University of Tasmania, in Sandy Bay.
+ A COMMUNITY GARDEN: providing a fun & healthy way for people to spend time together, share valuable skills & grow their own food. The garden includes a wood-fired pizza oven, small apple orchard and composting facility.
Source was initiated in 2005 by a group of students & community members interested in creating a more sustainable future. The centre provides a place to explore social and environmental issues, acting as a living example of urban sustainability which encourages community involvement and creativity.
