10 - 18 Arthur Street, Eltham 3095

Event Description

Improving health and wellbeing through food

Healthy eating will be on display at the Eltham Farmers Market on Sunday 12 October as the market plays host to Nillumbik Health’s ‘Eat well for health’ community information stall.

Nillumbik Health’s dietician, Nicole Jones will be on hand to answer questions and bust common nutrition myths. There will also be some fun activities for the kids.

A highlight includes the inaugural Nillumbik Health Seasonal Cooking Challenge, featuring guest cook Michelle Hegarty of Home Grown Catering. Michelle will show us how to prepare a simple, healthy meal using fresh produce on offer at the market, including an opportunity for market goers to taste and take home the recipe.

Local Food Connect

Short description—organiser

Local Food Connect (LFC) is a not-for-profit, community group which connects local growers and eaters. So, for example, we connect backyard growers with other backyard growers, and we connect the general population with their local growers, farmers and producers.

Operating mainly in the Nillumbik and Banyule areas, we encourage, support and promote events, actions and enterprises which help to put your food back into your control.

No bookings required — just turn up for a great day!
