In an era where our supermarkets are as close as some of us urban dwellers will get to farm-fresh produce, many young consumers have never been further from knowing where their food comes from. To solve this increasing divide between producer and consumer, we’re bringing the farmer and their stories to your local.
Guests will have the opportunity to break down stereotypes and pose the chicken or the egg kind of questions, with the aim of increasing Sydneysiders’ understanding of the ins and outs of our local food system and the people who are part of it.
In the bowels of The Old Growler, the event aims to tackle the rising disconnect between Australian producers and consumers, and feed Sydney’s increasing interest in the stories behind the local producers who grow our food and tend to their farms on a daily basis.
The second event of this small intimate series will spring action with with eggs from Mulloon Creek Natural Farms, Mulloon Creek, and dairy from Country Valley, Picton.
Youth Food Movement
YFM is growing a nation-wide movement that brings young people together around food. We strive to make our generation aware of their power as conscious consumers by building understanding and value for the food we eat. We also aspire to be a collective voice for young Australians so that together we can have our say in the decisions that impact our food future so that it may be healthy and secure.
