Event Description

We are planning to get the week started with a Farm Tour and discussion on the plan as discussed in Newcastle and Maitland and to look to further action and developments in food sovereignty.

We will provide lunch – at cost – with peasant food items with dishes from around the world suitable for vegan and vegetarian.

The farm tour will look at Community Supported Agriculture as practiced at Purple Pear Farm.

Lunch will be followed by a review of the outcomes of the plan and updates from the Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance. We will discuss how the Hunter Valley can work towards the goals of the alliance in our area.

Purple Pear Farm

Short description—organiser

Here at Purple Pear Farm, a 14 acre farm on the outskirts of Maitland, our life revolves around food - growing, selling, preparing, preserving and eating it. We run a sustainable farm and aim to show how permaculture, biodynamics and organic principles work equally well on apartment balconies, in backyards and on working farms like our own. Come and have a look at our affordable courses and soon you too, will be harvesting fresh vegetables, making yogurt and cheese in your kitchen and recycling scraps into your fresh, sweet smelling compost heap. Purple Pear Farm is the perfect place for children's birthday parties, come and find out about parties that you and your children will be raving about for years. We look forward to welcoming you on farm soon.
