Saturday 31 August 2013, 10:00am – 05:00pm

Help make the dream of semi-self-sufficiency a reality!
This large Pascoe Vale block will need many hands to create a magnificent food forest garden complete with mandala keyhole intensive garden beds for crops, chook and compost rotation.
On the day you will learn how to:

– design a food forest garden

– treat grey water with a banana mulch pit

– set up a crop rotation system

– build a simple chook tractor/hot compost system

– build a chook run and straw yard

– design a swale system

– plant and prune fruit trees

What to bring:

– Gloves

– Spades, shovels

– Wheelbarrow (if possible)

– Spare seedlings, shrubs and cuttings (we’ll take anything you’ve got, it’s a huge space!) – Your own coffee cup!
