VLGA Fair Food Week Roundtable – invitation only

August 20, 2013

August 20, 2013

10:00 am To 12:30 pm

60 Leicester St Carlton 3053

Event Description

Fair Food Week shines a light on our new story of food and celebrates those working to create a fairer food system for all.

The VLGA has a long history of working in the area of food security. In Fair Food Week 2013 we want to look through a slightly different lens and explore how local government has evolved in relation to food equity and how we can help local communities manage the transition.

This invitation-only Roundtable will consider what the appropriate role is for local government in supporting sustainable food systems and what role others play. It will look at the current social barriers that prevent these roles from being taken up successfully and explore the incentives that can be created for local government and the community to encourage movement toward a better food system.
