Wagtail: Little farm, big lessons

October 13, 2014

October 13, 2014

3:00 pm To 12:00 am

2b Thirza Ave, Mitchell Park S.A

Event Description

Come to our open day on the 13th of October to see the proof, hear the stories, smell the flowers, taste the flavour and touch the spirit of this tiny little innovative farm. Our approach is the result of many agricultural practices and farming disciplines being refined on a (small) local stage. The results speak for themselves!

Gate opens at 3pm, bring some snacks (BBQ hotplate provided), drinks and an open mind.

Questions like:

  • Why do you plant in the evening?
  • What’s with the floppy Hoe?
  • What’s a complete organic fertiliser?
  • Who buys your stuff?
  • and more will all be answered on the day, along with very informative demonstrations.

This will be a great learning experience, whether you’re just starting out or if you’re running a large scale working farm.

P.S.: We don’t have a toilet onsite so be sure to ‘go’ before you arrive 😉

Short description—organiser

Wagtail Urban Farm is based in Mitchell Park, Adelaide, and is run by Steven, Nat and Brett, three young urban farmers with a passion for fresh, local and sustainable produce. The name for the farm comes from a friendly bird, a ‘willy wagtail’, who often comes to visit us when we’re working on the block, hoping for us to uncover tasty insects.

We grow a range of vegetables, with an emphasis on delicious, colourful salads, Asian greens and fresh herbs. We sell to local markets (currently The Market Shed on Holland St in the CBD), food co-ops, friends, and passers-by! Check out our What’s selling page to see what’s in season right now.

Don’t register, just show up! Be sure to use a toilet before you arrive though, there’s no bathroom at Wagtail…
